Changing the old look into a new look - Office improvement

Since the establishment of the company to manage the dead corner group, I have unilaterally considered this to be a 5S problem on the spot. Until the end of August 2022, I was invited to this group and accepted the task of reporting to the management dead end of the office building. When I received the task, I was a bit confused and didn't quite understand what management dead ends the office could have. They were all in front of everyone. But since I had this task, I began to do it with confusion.

On the same day, I walked around upstairs and downstairs and found that the refrigerator could be considered a management dead corner, with everything in it and even a few rolls of glue. Then, I began to improve the office building step by step from refrigerator management. Through constant criticism, I gradually realized that it is not just a management corner that has not been cleaned up. In fact, it is necessary to start from sorting out and rectifying. Even if things that are not needed are cleaned up and placed neatly, they are also a management corner.

After more than 8 months of self inspection and self correction, the overall environment of the office building has undergone significant changes. Here, I would like to share with you some significant improvement points:

Tea area on the first floor

There are two major improvements in the tea area on the first floor.

One is that the long table was previously filled with cups, and everything that was in use and not in use was placed on the table, which was very unsightly. For this reason, I began to think about delimiting an area on the table for everyone to arrange neatly, but later I found it not beautiful. Finally, I decided to buy a water glass rack, with all the water glasses on the rack and some snacks and candy on the table for everyone to enjoy. On special days, everyone also enjoys delicious cakes together.

The second is that the refrigerator is like a junk room, with glue inside, various kinds of food and fruit, all mixed together, and even expired food that has not been cleaned up in a timely manner. At that time, I sorted out the things in the refrigerator, sorted out the items that people often put, and posted signs to let everyone have rules to follow. It is also recommended that the Technical Department purchase a dedicated freezer for storage of the adhesive.

2 Office warehouse

There are many categories of office supplies, but each category occupies a small area. If placed on the shelf, in order to fully utilize the space on the shelf, many materials can only be placed together, which appears relatively messy. To this end, the company organized visits to supermarkets and industrial product stores, learning from the experience of placing similar materials in other industries, and applying them to the company's office warehouses. Changing from stacking to hanging not only saves space, but also makes it clearer at a glance.

3 Customer Restaurant

In the original customer restaurant, there was a dining table and a refrigerator inside, and the counter top of the cabinet was empty, without a hint of life. After a little decoration, tablecloths and flowers were added to the dining table, various household appliances were placed on the counter top of the cabinet, and the refrigerator was also filled with drinks and beer.

Vacant room on the second floor

There is a lounge on the second floor of the company with two sets of sofas in it. Later, it was found that the two sets of sofas were not enough for everyone to rest, so a vacant room next to it was planned as the second lounge. We purchased four sets of sofas for everyone to rest, and equipped them with televisions.

In fact, there are far more improvements than that. Areas such as the dressing room, printing area, debris room, toilet, filing cabinet, archive room, and training room have all been improved to some extent. I won't talk about it one by one here. The improvement of the workshop is even more numerous.

Sometimes we get caught up in thinking errors, and what we see every day feels normal, without the thought of changing. But in fact, improvement is everywhere. In addition to organizing and rectifying the office, it also needs to increase employee satisfaction and make employees work more comfortably. At a higher level, let everyone actively participate in improvement and propose improvement suggestions. Only in this way can we continue to make progress and make the work environment more beautiful!
